70s Disco Dinner Dance Was Outta Sight!

Xavier Mission Gets Down at “Studio 55” Fundraiser

Proceeds benefit Empowerment Programs

The Xavier Mission community came together for a “70s Disco” fundraiser on Saturday, March 23. Foxy mamas and hep cats turned out in fly threads to boogie down in support of our empowerment programming.

The Xavier Mission Spirit Award is presented to individuals who represent the core values of Xavier Mission – welcome, service, compassion, determination, and resilience. The following outstanding community members were acknowledged with the 2024 Spirit Award.

  • Art Program Volunteers Michelle del Villar, Randa Elsayed, and Stephanie Gonzalez, students at the CUNY Macaulay Honors College who created and run our art program in conjunction with the Welcome Table.
  • Volunteer Melanie Sutrathada, who has served hundreds of thousands of meals to hungry neighbors over the past 20 years, from her time at St. Vincent de Paul in her hometown of San Diego to the past eight years spent on the serving line of Xavier Mission.
  • Investor and Volunteer Brian Hotaling, who started volunteering in 1993 and has donated generously over the past 30 years.
  • LSEP Alumna Paula Harris. We honor Paula for her perseverance, resilience, and dedication, to LSEP, to her community, and to herself.

Ms. Harris concluded our program with a telling of her compelling story. Guests went on to celebrate with our silent auction, raffle, gaming tables, and deejay.

Thanks to generous sponsors, attendees, and donors, we reached 89% our $100,000 fundraising goal in support of our Life Skills Empowerment Program (LSEP) and Financial Assistance/Eviction Prevention Program (FAP).
