Still Spellbound by Our Night of Magic!

Proceeds benefit Empowerment Programs

On Saturday, March 29, the Xavier Mission community stepped through the enchanted doors of A Night of Magic, an evening shimmering with wonder, purpose, and transformation.

Wands may not have been required, but the energy in the room was nothing short of spellbinding. Guests gathered in their most mystical attire for an unforgettable evening of fellowship and fundraising—all in support of Xavier Mission’s Empowerment Programs.

As always, the heart of the evening centered around honoring those who embody our mission’s core values: welcome, service, compassion, determination, and resilience. The 2025 Xavier Mission Spirit Awards were presented to five extraordinary individuals whose everyday magic changed lives:

Andy Lippman

A quiet legend in the volunteer world, Andy could fix anything—and often did. His tireless commitment transformed Hurtado Hall and touched countless lives, even from afar. Andy’s presence was a force of care, reliability, and warmth.

Clay Reynolds

Clay turns every Sunday into a masterclass in community. With wit, wisdom, and a pinch of salt (“because it makes everything better”), he’s built friendships that stretch far beyond the kitchen walls.

Praj Alavandi

Through every season and challenge, Praj has served with steady hands and an open heart. Whether stepping up behind the scenes or greeting guests with a warm smile, his quiet leadership shines.

Beverly Torres

Known lovingly as “Mama,” Chef Bev has nourished hearts and bellies for over 20 years. Her food is legendary, but it’s her love and fierce dedication that make her truly magical.

Gerardo Sierra

A U.S. Air Force veteran and 2017 graduate of our Life Skills Empowerment Program, Gerardo embodies courage, growth, and generosity. His leadership and spirit are a beacon of hope for our entire community.

The evening continued with a silent auction, raffle, magical games of chance, and, of course, a celebration worthy of our honorees.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, guests, and donors, we exceeded our goal and raised $117,000, supporting our Life Skills Empowerment Program (LSEP) and Financial Assistance/Eviction Prevention Program (FAP).
