The Xavier High School community provides ongoing support to Xavier Mission throughout the year. Students complete their community service hours by volunteering at the Welcome Table and Food Pantry. In the fall, the community hosts a massive food drive to benefit Xavier Mission, collecting enough food to supply our pantry for four to six months. The school donates the proceeds from one of their dress-down days to Xavier Mission, and have collected items like toiletries to be given to our programs.

For more than 20 years, Xavier High School offered the ground floor of their brownstone building on 16th St. to the Xavier Mission Men’s Shelter. The shelter was opened in the mid-80s, and was one of the first faith-based shelters in NYC. Throughout its history, the Xavier Shelter was known for being a comfortable, welcoming, peaceful environment with friendly, compassionate volunteers who truly cared about the men who came to stay. Though the school had to reclaim its space in early 2022, we remain grateful for their hospitality and for enabling us to keep the Xavier Shelter operational for so many years.
